Gifts that Grow

The body of Christ is knit together by each other’s gifts done in love. Each growing personally and as a whole, we are unified against the Enemy. In Ephesians, Paul tells us that our individual gifts secure the body against the power of the Enemy.

“Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭

We instead have the Spirit of Truth inside us– pouring out to those around us and encouraging them in their walk.

“But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head  — Christ.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:15‬

As we grow individually, we grow as a body. As we’ve discussed, growth comes from using our spiritual gifts. Are we growing up into Christ? When we do, the Enemy cannot toss around anymore. We are knit together; each part growing stronger.

“From Him, the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building itself up in love by the proper working of each individual part.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:16‬

We need each other. We need to do our part. We need to acknowledge Christ as the head of the body. Every supporting ligament is essential in its proper working. The Enemy is scared of a body unified; he will do anything to invade the body with lies, so we need the Spirit of Truth to lead us. Are we building up the Church in love? Are we using our spiritual gifts to edify the other working parts of the body?

The growing, unified, Spirit-filled, Christ-lead Church is a strong one that is Jesus to the world.
