We have the great opportunity to live in a world that Jesus has already walked on. To have in hand the accounts of those who knew and loved Him. Through the incarnation, we witness the fullness of God’s glory. God brought His glory to us.
What is the glory of God like?
“The Lord passed in front of him and proclaimed: The Lord — the Lord is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth, maintaining faithful love to
a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But he will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.”
Exodus 34:6-7
The glory of the Lord is His love– that is who He is. He is love. The incarnation is the revelation of true love. His love is a love that changes us. It is a love that comes to us– it meets us where we are. How amazing that is: We no longer need to climb mountains to get a glimpse of God because God came down in the fullness of His love. There is no striving to earn it or seeking it out. Jesus came to us. The Lord our God is with us.
Are we taking time to celebrate that this Christmas?
We get to experience the glory of God. His love lives inside of us.
Is it pouring out? Are we exemplifying the love that abides within us as Jesus does?
“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God — God remains in him and he in God. And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.”
1 John 4:15-16
God is with us. His Spirit of love is within us. Let the world know.
