The Church is founded on Christ; it is united by His Spirit. Though our backgrounds, ethnicities, and languages may all be different, our King is Christ and we are the nation of God.
Every building has a chief cornerstone that supports the building. The cornerstone is the first building block of a foundation. The rest of the building will suffer without a good foundation. The cornerstone is like a seed from which the rest of the building grows. The Church is built upon Jesus. He is our cornerstone.
“So, then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him, the whole building, being put together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him, you are also being built together for God’s dwelling in the Spirit.”
(Ephesians 2:19-22)
Upon our Cornerstone, we are built into a holy temple. Each of us rocks from all over, of all different shapes, are becoming part of His holy temple. Growing from the seed of Jesus Christ, we become a dwelling place of the Lord.
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
(1 Peter 2:9)
As the nation of God, we are called to proclaim what He has done. We are meant to be evidence of our Cornerstone and what He has done.
As individual parts of the holy priesthood, are we bringing Christ to the world and the world to Christ?
