Christ's Assembly

Faith Moore

We are Christ’s assembly. We belong to Him. The Church is the bride of Christ. We enter into a covenant with Christ because of the love He shows us. As in marriage, Christ is the head of the Church. We submit to His lead because of the unity the covenant of love brings.

In this marriage with Christ, we should remain devoted to Him alone. As the Church, yes, but starting as individuals. We are to be committed to God. We cannot flirt with sin or be led astray by the world.

“You adulterous people! Don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? So whoever wants to be the friend of the world becomes the enemy of God. Or do you think it’s without reason that the Scripture says: The spirit he made to dwell in us envies intensely?”

(James 4:4-5)

God is a jealous God because He knows He is what is best for us. He wants all of us only for Him. The Lord yearns for devotion.

Are we devoted to God only or do we tend to flirt with sin?

“Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

(James 4:7)

Under the Head of this marriage, we are to submit. Submit to God. Commit yourself only to Him. As we commit individually, we commit as an assembly. We are then devoted as His assembly.
