Unity in Diversity

“One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:11‬

The Holy Spirit dwells inside us. It outpours differently in each one of us. No one gets skipped over. Everyone has a role in the body of Christ. The Spirit inside us longs to pour out upon those around us. It is time to ask, “What is my spiritual gift?” “How is the Spirit outpouring from me?”

If we don’t know, may we ask the Lord to show us what He can do through us.

Once we understand what our role is, we can better use it. We can let in pour out of us constantly. Our spiritual gifts have a purpose. In Ephesians, we see some explanation of what that purpose is, “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:12-13‬

They are for ministry, building up the body, unity, and growth. If each one of us fills our role, the body will grow and those we encounter will see the glory of the King. Our gifts aren’t something we can ignore or be afraid to step out in. They are meant to pour out of us.

Are we using our individual gifts to spread the good news? Are we using them to build up, encourage, and strengthen our fellow believers? Are we letting them freely flow out of us, so the body is unified in Christ?

As we let the Spirit work in and pour out of us individually, the body will be unified in reflection of Christ. Are our spiritual gifts making us more like Christ? Is there tangible fruit of the Lord’s Spirit in us?
